Women in Micronesia

Women in Micronesia

Traditional life is dictated by "custom rules", separating men and women strictly in their daily routines. Men seem to be in charge of construction and fishing (while hanging out the rest of the day), while women are constantly busy cooking, weaving, doing laundry, etc. On remoter islands girls and women still go topless (even though they're all catholic they even go to church topless, which makes sense because, hey, God created those boobs!), but that doesn't mean "free girlpower": on the contrary, they have to ask their husbands for permission even to go over to the neighbour's... Birth rates are high, we've seen very young mothers and many women don't speak a word of English.
